NOSTA Group Transports Goods for Felix Schoeller Emission-Free

Siebenlehn / Osnabrueck, April 23, 2024 – Three electric Volvo FHs are from now on transporting paper products to and from the Felix Schoeller plant in Weißenborn. This will save the emissions of almost 3,000 journeys and up to 160,000 kilograms of carbon emissions per year. For the project, the manufacturer of specialty paper solutions is relying on the expertise of NOSTA Group, its long-standing full-service logistics partner. NOSTA Group is managing the project and has installed a total of three charging points at the plant and the warehouse to supply the new trucks with electricity during loading.

"The future belongs to electric trucks. They offer the opportunity - when using green electricity - to drive completely emission-free. That's why switching to battery-powered vehicles is the best way to become carbon-neutral," says Jörg Prochaska, Branch Manager at NOSTA in Siebenlehn. From now on, the logistics company will be using three Volvo FH electric vehicles for regional shuttle transportation between the warehouse in Siebenlehn and the Felix Schoeller plant in Weißenborn.

By electrifying its transports, the paper manufacturer can save considerable emissions. Alexander Remy, Process Manager Supply Chain and Logistics at Felix Schoeller: "Every year, around 3,000 transports are made between our plant in Weißenborn and the warehouse in Siebenlehn, covering almost 140,000 kilometers and moving 55,000 tons of material. By electrifying these transports, we can save up to 160,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions and at the same time significantly reduce noise pollution on the routes."

As Felix Schoeller's full-service logistics partner, NOSTA Group is managing the project. The logistics specialist installed three new charging stations directly at the loading ramps, one at the warehouse and two at the Felix Schoeller plant. The stations supply the trucks with electricity in parallel with the loading process - an integral part of the overall concept. Christian Hammacher, COO Road at the NOSTA Group, sees the practical benefits of this solution: "The loading and unloading time of the vehicles is sufficient to fill up the battery for the next tour, so that charging times are reduced and the operational process does not have to be adjusted." This is why the transports between the Felix Schoeller plant in Weißenborn and the warehouse in Siebenlehn are particularly suitable for electrification, both operationally and economically. This was the result of an internal analysis carried out in advance.

"We found the right cooperation partner in Felix Schoeller because they are pursuing the same goal - they also want to become climate-neutral," says Christian Hammacher. The plant in Weißenborn is a model project of the paper manufacturer for the validation of sustainable processes and products. "Sustainability is an important component of our corporate strategy. This project makes it visible and palpable," says Alexander Remy.
