Lots of exciting projects, new team members and a positive customer development: this is how the Bielefeld branch looks back on its first year in the NOSTA world. "We started with two people and a small customer base in December 2022. By the beginning of 2024, our team has grown to four members and we were able to acquire over 30 customers," says branch manager Thomas Sonntag, summing up the positive news from Bielefeld.
This means that the NOSTA Group has achieved what it had hoped for by establishing itself in Bielefeld: to be an anchor point in the middle of the economically strong region for numerous customers in the mechanical and electrical engineering sectors. Deputy branch manager Marcus Witt-Begemann adds: "The potential here is still very high. That's why we are planning to acquire more customers and deepen existing relationships."
Focus on project logistics
The handling of project logistics has emerged as an important topic for the road specialists in Bielefeld. A real highlight of the year: the transportation of large industrial equipment to Portugal, split between 35 individual trucks. "We had to follow a certain order with our transports on the construction site. And nothing worked without special vehicles. That was an exciting challenge," reports Thomas Sonntag. It was therefore even more encouraging that the customer was impressed with the team's work and placed additional follow-up orders.
Some of these orders also had unusual things in store: Specially manufactured spades were mistaken for rocket parts during a customs inspection. With photos and videos, which were sent directly to the driver, Team Bielefeld eventually convinced the border guards that the spades were not dangerous. "In cases like this, you sometimes have to find a creative solution to ensure that the transport can continue."
Experts for every logistical challenge
For this and other orders, the networking within the NOSTA Group paid off. In addition to the close contact with the project logistics team, the colleagues from the customs clearance department also provided excellent support time and again. "This cross-departmental exchange is important for our shared success. There are specialists for every challenge throughout the company," Thomas Sonntag was pleased to note.
This also gives his team more time to coordinate deliveries as well as maintaining and intensifying contact with customers. This is in line with Bielefeld's plans for the second year at NOSTA: "We want to further establish ourselves as a reliable logistics partner and continue our good performance," says the branch manager, looking ahead.
