Mobile work, work-life balance, self-realization: These are just three keywords that have gained massive importance in the modern working world as more and more people want to work more flexibly and adapted to their current living conditions. And this means the job should also serve personal development. This places high demands on technical equipment and requires the development of new working time models - also at NOSTA.
However, one important factor in this changed working world is underestimated or even completely forgotten in many companies: The role of managers. "New forms of work also require a new kind of leadership," explains Julia Butke, who is developing new approaches to future job structures in NOSTA's "New Work" department. And it goes without saying that this includes making current and new managers fit for genuine on-the-job cooperation.
Managers not forgotten
Because the modern working world offers previously unknown challenges. More and more professionals no longer spend working hours together with colleagues in the office but at their desks at home. Therefore, team cohesion can suffer and individual motivation can decrease. "Good managers have this in mind and can align their daily work routine with it," says Julia Butke, explaining the new demands.
To ensure that this succeeds, NOSTA has developed its own training program called "New Leadership". The aim is to promote the individual commitment of employees and their personal development. "In the future, managers must see themselves as coaches who provide the best possible support for their team members in achieving their goals," says Julia Butke. This is precisely where the "New Leadership" program comes in.
New Leadership is where classic meets new
The content of the programme is about leadership techniques and competencies that are used from warehouse logistics to accounting. Important keywords in the context of the interactive, digital "New Leadership" training include classic concepts such as diplomacy or decision-making skills. "These skills have always been important and will continue to be so in the future, so that teams are led in a goal-oriented and competent manner," explains Julia Butke.
At the same time, the new world of work also demands skills that were previously less used, such as the power of persuasion or attention to the mental well-being of employees. Julia Butke: "In the sessions, these skills are explained in depth and applied in concrete examples. Motivating people in particular is of high importance because many perceive their job as an important part of their own identity."
Why New Leadership?
At NOSTA, the positive change in leadership culture is part of a larger process dedicated to the goals of "New Work." In addition to the consistent and permanent further training of employees, structural and working time adjustments are part of the strategy. All those involved should take part in "New Work" equally and in a way that is adapted to their job roles and benefit from it in the long term.
